Let’s add another crazy Republican to the growing list of men in power that belittle, demean, and humiliate women. Republican Matt Gaetz unequivocally displays himself in his male chauvinism pants!
Before we get into what this despicable man said, let us look at who he told it to! This was at the Turning Point USA conference in Florida. Here is what Turning Point USA is:
Turning Point USA’s 8th annual Student Action Summit will be held July 22nd to 24th, 2022 in Tampa, FL. Thousands of student activists between the ages of 15 and 26 will be invited to attend. Students who attend this summit will hear from guest speakers, receive first-class activism and leadership training, and participate in a series of networking events with political leaders and top-tier activist organizations. Following a TPUSA conference, these activists return to their campuses more energized than ever and with the proper tools and training on how to defend conservatism on their campus. |
Please re-read the bolded words again before we continue. Knowing what this conference was supposed to be about makes what Republican Matt Gaetz said much worse! In his speech to 15 to 26-year-olds, he mocked women’s physical appearances. To me, it doesn’t matter that he was referring to women in the Pro-Choice movement who are responding to the overturning of Roe V. Wade. Women are women, and they come in all shapes, sizes, and looks, just like every other human.
During his speech to students in attendance to receive “first-class activism and leadership training,” Republican Matt Gaetz described Pro-Choice advocates as “disgusting” and “odious on the inside and out.”
This man makes my blood boil! But, of course, it is not okay to belittle women like this! What would possess a Republican politician to say, “ugly women shouldn’t be the ones to worry about access to abortions.” He said with a massive smile on his face.
He is the odious one!
But why should he stop there? He then said, “Why is it that the women with the least likelihood of getting pregnant are the ones most worried about having abortions?” and even worse: “Nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb.”
This is a Republican Congressman! The same man that the Justice Department is investigating over whether he violated federal sex trafficking laws with a 17-year-old girl in 2019! Not surprisingly, Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz is a close ally of former president Donald Trump. On the evening of the January 6th anniversary, he repeated unproven conspiracy theories about the attack. He has aligned himself with the Proud Boys and Holocaust deniers. He also has been investigated for violating House ethics rules for various actions. You can find out more about him and the allegation here: The Washington Post
He has a history of belittling women. For example, on February 26, 2022, at a conference in Rosen Shingle Creek he said: “How many of the women rallying against overturning Roe are over-educated, under-loved millennials who sadly return from protests to a lonely microwave dinner with their cats, and no bumble matches?”
Men like Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz praise only “traditional” women. What is a traditional woman? A traditional woman denotes a woman who prefers to take a traditional or ultra-traditional role in marriage, including the belief that a woman’s place is in the home and that wives should be under a husband’s “wing”/protection. The term is a neologism. Some may have chosen to leave careers in business or in public life to focus instead on their families and raising children.
Does this sound like women pre the 1970s!
Usage of the term features women admiring the virtues of staying home, fixing meals, having many children and raising them, submitting to male leadership, and behaving like “traditional wives.” Some of these women, according to America magazine, a liberal Catholic publication, say some women have adopted the practice of wearing veils in the church to appeal to men.
How long before men like Matt Gaetz want women to cover themselves fully, like in the Middle East? I’m pleading with women everywhere to stand up against these men before you find yourselves enslaved! America is fractured, and its citizens are being brainwashed by right-wing conservatism. Vote Democratic if you value your freedoms!
The concept is controversial partly because of the associations in the United States and in Britain with the alt-right, white nationalism, and the Republican party. It rejects many of the precepts of feminism and accepts the notion of the husband being the dominant figure in the home. The New York Times columnist Annie Kelly suggested that there were connections between the idea of tradwives and white supremacy in that the movement urged more white women to have babies to offset a declining birthrate.
And there you have it! That is why the Republican Party is Anti-Abortion. How much plainer does it need to get?
For some women who identify as tradwives, submitting to a husband means putting him in charge of all of the family’s finances, with the wife getting a spending allowance.
I honestly cannot go on! Women beware! If you continue to vote them into office, you may find yourself teleported back in time and a slave to men. Women of the United States have fought long and hard to give you the rights you enjoy today. Don’t let their hard-won battles be for naught. Fight on. Squash these pigs, run for office, and make sure you codify the laws in your favor!
